Do you have excellent customer service skills and a calm, welcoming manner? Are you someone who enjoys helping others and being at the heart of a busy, vibrant environment? Would you love to work in a role that helps you feel part of everything happening at Sheffield Theatres?

We’re looking for an Operations Assistant to join our brilliant and friendly Operations team on a permanent basis.

In this role, you’ll play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of our venues, helping to ensure everyone who visits or works with us has a great experience. You’ll be one of the first friendly faces that everyone arriving at our Stage Door meets, including colleagues, visiting companies and contractors. You’ll provide a switchboard service, help keep our buildings secure, and take on key‑holder responsibilities.

You’ll contribute to the smooth running of our spaces, from setting up rooms and events to carrying out safety checks and operating systems such as CCTV and fire alarms. You’ll also act as an appointed person in emergencies, including managing evacuations and carrying out first aid and fire safety responsibilities.

No two days are the same, and you’ll be part of a committed and collaborative team working across all of our venues.

Join us and become part of a welcoming, professional team focused on creating safe, well‑managed spaces for everyone to enjoy.

How to Apply

As part of the application process, we’ll ask you a few questions (these may vary depending on the role) and invite you to upload a CV that outlines your work experience and qualifications.

One key question we ask that will be part of the scoring process is:
Please give examples of how your skills, abilities, and experience equip you for this role. We’d also like to understand your reasons for applying.”

This replaces a traditional cover letter and is your opportunity to explain why you’re a great fit for the role you are applying for. We recommend using the job description and person specification as a guide when writing your response.

We understand that everyone communicates differently, so you can choose the format that works best for you. This could be a written application, or you might prefer to record a video or audio file instead. If you choose video or audio, please keep your CV and application combined to no longer than 7 minutes.

If you need any support or have questions about the process, we’re here to help! Email us at recruitment@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
