Are you a skilled and creative costume maker ready to help bring Sheffield Theatres’ productions to life?

We’re currently looking for a Wardrobe Assistant to support the creation and construction of costumes, working closely with our wardrobe team and designers to deliver high‑quality garments for our stages.

You’ll assist with costume build, fittings, adjustments, and day‑to‑day workroom tasks, while keeping the space safe and organised. You’ll complete accurate notes, help solve problems as they arise, and support pre‑production research, sourcing, and returns. We’re looking for someone with practical costume experience, strong technical skills, and a calm, professional approach under pressure.

If you’re passionate about theatre, eager to learn, and excited to collaborate with our talented creative team, we’d love to hear from you!

Please download the job description and person specification at the bottom on this page forfurther information.

How to Apply

As part of the application process, we’ll ask you a few questions (these may vary depending on the role) and invite you to upload a CV that outlines your work experience and qualifications.

One key question we ask that will be part of the scoring process is:
“Please give examples of how your skills, abilities, and experience equip you for this role. We’d also like to understand your reasons for applying.”

This replaces a traditional cover letter and is your opportunity to explain why you’re a great fit for the role you are applying for. We recommend using the job description and person specification as a guide when writing your response.

We understand that everyone communicates differently, so you can choose the format that works best for you. This could be a written application, or you might prefer to record a video or audio file instead. If you choose video or audio, please keep your CV and application combined to no longer than 7 minutes.

If you need any support or have questions about the process, we’re here to help! Email us at recruitment@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
