Are you an experienced costume Cutter with a passion for turning designs into expertly crafted costumes? We are looking for a Cutter to interpret costume designs, draft patterns, and work closely with Designers and our Head of Wardrobe to bring each production to life!

In this role, you’ll estimate and cut fabrics and oversee the progression of costume construction tasks. Working safely, efficiently, and creatively under pressure is key, as is keeping accurate, organised practices that meet tight production deadlines.

We’re looking for someone with strong cutting and construction skills, a solid understanding of costume history, and significant experience in theatre, television or film. You’ll be a calm, diplomatic communicator with excellent problem‑solving abilities, able to manage your own workload while supporting others.

If you’re a skilled Cutter who enjoys collaboration, craftsmanship and bringing bold ideas from page to stage, we’d love to hear from you!

How to Apply

As part of the application process, we’ll ask you a few questions (these may vary depending on the role) and invite you to upload a CV that outlines your work experience and qualifications.

One key question we ask that will be part of the scoring process is:
“Please give examples of how your skills, abilities, and experience equip you for this role. We’d also like to understand your reasons for applying.”

This replaces a traditional cover letter and is your opportunity to explain why you’re a great fit for the role you are applying for. We recommend using the job description and person specification as a guide when writing your response.

We understand that everyone communicates differently, so you can choose the format that works best for you. This could be a written application, or you might prefer to record a video or audio file instead. If you choose video or audio, please keep your CV and application combined to no longer than 7 minutes.

If you need any support or have questions about the process, we’re here to help! Email us at recruitment@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
